FAQs
How difficult is the hike?
The hike ascends quite steeply from the car park area on a zig zag track through beech forest until it emerges in open tussock grassland. This ascent takes about an hour. The next section to Bushline Hut is easy and level, with superb views, and takes about 20 minutes. From Bushline Hut the track descends back to the car park.
What is the track like, and what kind of footwear do I need?
The track is well surfaced and even. Light hiking shoes or running shoes/trainers are suitable.
What else do I need for the day?
Shorts or light quick drying trousers, light wool or polypropylene travel shirt or T shirt, light fleece jacket, light windproof jacket, cap or hat, sunglasses, day pack, swimming costume, towel, camera, suntan lotion, and insect repellent. We have plenty of spare clothing in our vehicle and can provide most items for the day such as day packs if you require them. We do not have shoes.
